Pop princess wows Adelaide

The costumes were fabulous, the dancers were oiled, and the fans were ecstatic, but then, you'd expect nothing less at a Kylie Minogue concert.

The sold-out crowd was welcomed to the pop princess's decadent grecian playground, complete with splash pools, white columns and staircases.

In Adelaide for the first time in five years as part of her Aphrodite: Les Folies tour, the well-seasoned performer was in her element as she came on stage to an overture and launched into her first song Aphrodite.

Kylie fans were treated to a mix of elaborate costumes, ranging from an angel-winged headpiece to a black full feathered gown, white flowing creations and a stunning shimmering silver dress and huge sparkling platforms to match.

Not to mention the costumes of her hard working dancers - dressed in gold-plated gladiators, feathered headpieces, barely-there bejewelled leotards and barechested men.

The Aphrodite - Les Folies Tour rocks Adelaide as brilliantly costumed fans welcome Kylie, her cast & crew to her sold-out show at the Entertainment Centre. And by now, they should all know she's watching them on the monitors backstage...

It was nothing short of a visual feast - and then there was the music.

She followed up her opening song with recent hits Wow and The One before sending the crowd into a frenzy with her old favourites - Spinning Around, I Believe in You, What Do I Have To Do and, of course, everyone's favourite, I Can't Get You Out Of My Head.

With influences taken from Ancient Greece to the Romans, a little bit of '20s swinging big band and even a slight Arab touch, there was something for everyone.

It was a lavish, sophisticated, well rehearsed show that left the crowd saying "wow, wow, wow, wow, wow".

With a kudos-inspiring $10 million stage that crosses flatteringly-lit Ancient Greece with the Sydney Mardi Gras, Minogue seemed to enjoy herself more than ever, her joie de vivre perhaps only eclipsed by that of her die-hard fans who sang along with the pop diva during her biggest hits.

At odds with the petite star's global fame, Minogue arrived in Adelaide yesterday afternoon with a sole female companion, free of burly minders, security guards, and her handsome partner, model Andres Velencoso.

Unlike fellow singer Justin Bieber's recent visit, when thronging fans were disappointed when the pop brat made a last minute decision to avoid his many eager female fans by bypassing the concourse, Minogue disembarked with other passengers without fuss.

Fresh from visiting family while performing in Melbourne, the pop superstar appeared relaxed and smiled at bemused fellow travellers while sharing that she hoped to have enough time to visit a winery while in town.

While it has recently been reported that Minogue is hoping to duet with sister Dannii sometime in the near future, she was perplexed when asked what song the pair would consider covering.

"Erm, not sure," she replied with a shrug.

Surely fans would be thrilled with a remake of Especially For You?
